Boxers are versatile dogs that can be very devoted to their owners and be very dominant towards other animals and pets. They are very strong and active and require a lot of attention from their owners as well as regular training. The breed is actually an old one and was a result of crosses.

Another name of the Breed: Deutscher Boxer.
Country of Origin: The breed originated in Germany in the 19th century.
Height: Males are naturally bigger than females being about 22.5 to 25 inches and the females are 21-23.5 inches high.
Weight: Males weigh about 65 to 68 pounds whereas the Boxer females weigh about 50-65 pounds.
Coloring: The color of the dogs is usually fawn and brindle. The Boxer coat is rather short and smooth. Being so short, the coat requires only occasional brushing.

Boxers Photos - Appearance

These square built dogs are thickly muscled and have a rather short coat that is easy to groom. On the other hand, because of the short coat, the dogs are sensitive to low temperatures and cannot live outdoors. Boxers are indoor dogs however they require regular walking and training.

Life Expectancy: The life span of the Boxer is 8-10 years.
Health Concerns: Boxers can be susceptible to hip dysplasia, cancer (in older dogs), allergies and heart problems.
